At Auburn Elementary, the Virginia Preschool Initiative is a program for "at-risk" students and their families. Our eighteen students must be four years of age. The children participate in developmentally appropriate activities in whole class and small group setting. The curriculum is embedded in the Virginia's Foundation Blocks for Early Learning. Using a center-based approach to integrate the curriculum we find creative ways to build skills. Our goal is for the children to feel comfortable, confident, secure, and happy as they grow socially and academically.
